Who are we?

Your Colleague, Your Friend, Your Teacher, Your Student, Yourself in the future…

The Anti Malware Alliance is an Aspiring Non Profit Organization that fights Cyber Crime and Malware through Open Source and modern Technologies. The Alliance is a group of Volunteer Cyber Security Professionals, Researchers, Students and Enthusiast that work on Projects to fight against malware.

We research, develop, sponsor and maintain software projects involved in the area of Malware Detection, Dataset Generation, Machine Learning Model Training, Distribution and Evaluation.

Currently the Cyber Security Industry is riddled with Challenges. The current Vendor Led approach has not managed to curve down crime or provide affordable, sufficient, protection for a large base of Individuals and both SMB and Enterprise at Large.

Unfortunately, due to the current prevalent economic Systems, Closed Source vendors have Economic Incentives to Sell Security Features as Additional Products, Features, Upsells, or Licensing Levels. This unfortunate incentive, is seen throughout the Software and the Security Industry, forcing an increasing percentage of IT budget going towards Security Vendors.

“Fake Free” Security solutions such as “Free” Antivirus, operate almost as a Scam currently as Scareware, AdWare, Annoying and Bullying users into Upgrades, or selling their data for posture. The argument by many vendors is that building this solutions, and Machine Learning Models is expensive, which requires a never ending profit-seeking behavior towards their users. While its true there is “some cost” in researching and operating this solutions, we argue the vendors are exponentially exploiting their users for profit. We believe good security can be done in a fundamentally different way.

A lot of the current approaches by the Industry are wrong and should disappear. Given malware Polymorphic Signatures are useless now. Detection methods should evolve. Keeping with the old mechanisms only performs a disservice to users, similar to driving your 1970s car.

We strive to provide a Community Space on the Internet, for Hackers, Thinketers, Researchers, and Enthusiast that want to learn, contribute and make the Internet a safer place for all.
